KI Data Tooling

Virtual project kickoff

On April 1st KI Data Tooling, the third project in the KI Familie of the VDA Leitinitiative autonomous and connected driving officially started. For the first time ever the project kicked off with an exclusively digital event for all partners.

With the aim to organize a convenient and constructive event for everyone, with regards to the current general situation the project management team developed a concept for an exclusively digital kickoff event. This event took place on April 23rd 2020 as a joint interactive telephone conference with 65 participants.

Representatives of the funding Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy and the project sponsor TÜV Rheinland Consulting GmbH in their greetings to the participants pointed out the importance of the project KI Data Tooling for the whole AI project family. Project Coordinator Hans-Jörg Vögel, filling in for Cornelia Denk (both BMW Group) who is on parental leave, gave a brief overview about the project and its technological approach and goals. Following the opening parts, the project partners went right to work in four subproject workshop sessions outlining the work of the next three months. This happened with a strong focus on interaction between participants and was supported seamlessly by Confluence.

The digital event concept was consequently applied and four virtual coffee tables were introduced for casual networking during lunch break. These were widely used for on- and off-topic discussions. During the closing and wrapping up of the event, the project coordinator, the project management team and participants expressed their positive feedback on the first exclusively digital project kickoff event.
